TotalEnergies, Masdar and Siemens Energy signed a cooperation agreement to jointly develop a green hydrogen project during the “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2022”.
As part of this project, a pilot plant will be built in Masdar City to produce green hydrogen and convert CO2 in sustainable aviation fuel.

Masdar, Siemens Energy and TotalEnergies have today on the edge of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2022 » to jointly develop a pilot project in Masdar City, the new and green city of the emirate.

Announced by Masdar on the margins of the previous edition in 2021, this collaboration to develop a pilot project brings together the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Energy, airlines Etihad Airways and Lufthansa, Khalifa University, Siemens Energy and Marubeni. By joining this project, TotalEnergies will mobilize all its know-how in the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to then supply it to partner airlines.
Since January 2021, project partners have evaluated multiple technologies and conducted feasibility and design studies while working closely with regulators on compliance issues. The project will enter the engineering study phase (FEED) this year.
The partners believe that by mobilizing their various fields of expertise and expertise in the energy sector, as well as their presence in local and international markets, this project will pave the way for the commercial production of SAF, helping to reduce production costs and make it commercially viable.
